MAJOR GENERAL AMARJIT SINGH, VSM (RETD)

Maj Gen Amarjit Singh, VSM (Retd) was commissioned into the Indian
Army in Dec 1977. He was commissioned into the Armoured Corps. He
commanded an Armd Regt, an Armd Bde and a Mountain Div. He was an
instructor in the school of Armoured Warfare and College of Defense
Management, Secunderabad. He is the alumni of the Defense Services
Staff College and College of Defence Management where he initiated the
Department of Strategic Management. He has a gold medal from Panjab
University for his BSc Degree. He holds a post graduate degree from
Madras University and a master’s degree in management from Osmania
University. He is an M.Phil from Panjab University (Gold Medal).
Maj Gen Amarjit Singh, VSM (Retd) has served all along the borders with
Pak, China and Myanmar. He has taken part in Operation Vijay, and has
been operationally involved in counter-insurgency operations in Assam,
North-East and in J & K. He has held important staff appointments as
Brigade Major, Colonel Administration, Colonel MS, Brigadier Personnel
and Maj Gen Staff.
He has been given the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on three
occasions and the Army Commanders Commendation on four occasions.
He has been conferred the Vishisht Seva Medal.
He retired in 2014 and has settled in Chandigarh and is a visiting professor
with the Department of Defense Studies in the Panjab University. He is
also on their board of studies.
